Field management during corn heading and fruiting period

Maize heading and grain-filling period refers to the period from tasselling to maturity, and its fertility characteristics are mainly reproductive growth. After pumping males, the growth of stems gradually ceased, and the plants entered flowering, pollination, insemination, and fruiting, and the nutrients produced in the stems and leaves began to be transported in large numbers to developing ears. The task of field management is to cultivate roots, protect leaves, prevent premature aging, and recapture high yields with multiple grains. During this period, there was continuous rain and drought in our county, affecting pollination and insemination. In management, we must grasp the following aspects:

1. Drainage and Drought Control: In the event of flowering, pollination, insemination, and raining in real time, attention should be paid to drainage and flood prevention; in case of drought, suitable irrigation can be carried out in places where conditions permit.

2. Artificially assisted pollination: Artificially assisted pollination is an effective measure to reduce baldness, lack of grain, ensure selection of insemination, and increase the weight of grains. Generally, it can increase production by 8-10%. Pollination was carried out in the morning (after the dew had dried) before 8-12 o'clock, pollinating while collecting pollen.

3, castration: Maeda is to remove the male male corn, also known as the removal of smallpox. When the tassels are removed in time, the consumption of nutrients inside the plants is reduced, and the nutrients can be supplied to other parts of the corn plants to grow and be ventilated and light-transmitting, which facilitates the photosynthesis of the plants. After detasseling, the female silking can be advanced 2-3 days and the flowering period meets well. Adequate pollination promotes early maturation; after castration, the plant is short, the middle leaves become wider, the ear grows, the number of grains increases, and the grain weight increases; the empty pole rate decreases, the baldness decreases, and the panicles and grains increase, thereby increasing yield; the emasculation can be interlaced. The male or female nests are emasculated. The two plants can be left to stay one by one. The whole field is divided by two to three times. Generally, one third of the whole field is removed and no more than one-half is recommended. 2-3 lines around the edge should not be removed. Don't remove the top leaves when you go male, do not go to the side of the plot and the two lines on the windward side; the emasculated plants account for 50% of the whole field in the normal years of rain, and the years of drought or rainy days are less, generally The emasculation accounted for 30-40% of the whole plant; when the tassels were selected for clear or cloudy days, they could not easily damage the leaves when they were held in their hands, and the emasculation was the most suitable. The emasculation was not carried out on rainy days.

4, the application of granular fertilizer: According to the condition of the seedlings, the growing trend is not applied; the growth potential of the discretionary application. Nitrogenous fertilizers and phosphate fertilizers should be used in combination with foliar application or foliar spray.

5, prevent pests, prevent lodging, remove ineffective strains.
