Colostrum is the milk within 7 days after calving of healthy cows. The Ministry of Health stated that the use of bovine colostrum as a raw material for the production of dairy products should strictly comply with the relevant laws and regulations, and its products should comply with the corresponding national standards, industry standards, local standards and corporate standards. Milk products supplemented with bovine colostrum in ordinary foods should be implemented in accordance with relevant food standards. Formulas for infants and young children must not be supplemented with bovine colostrum and dairy products produced from bovine colostrum.
The Ministry of Health requires that the above provisions be implemented from September 1, 2012. Products that have been produced or imported in accordance with relevant regulations can continue to be sold.
