Harvard Research Finds Healthy Diet Helps Longevity

According to foreign media reports, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that long-term healthy diet can prolong life and reduce the risk of death.

Researchers at Harvard University studied 74,000 health professionals and recorded their eating habits for four years.

The researchers used a dietary quality scoring system to assess the effect of diet on the health of the subjects.

The study found that after 12 years, those who ate healthier than they had initially participated in the study had a 8% to 17% chance of premature death in the next 12 years. They mainly improve their diet by ingesting more whole grains, fruits, vegetables and fatty fish.

However, the person who has a poor diet during this period will have an increase in the risk of dying within the next 12 years by about 6% to 12%.

Researchers at Harvard University say that our findings show that improving the long-term health benefits of dietary quality emphasizes overall dietary patterns rather than individual food or nutrition. A healthy diet can take different approaches because of differences in personal food, cultural preferences, and health conditions.
