OFweek Medical Network: It is understood that in 2015, Medidata's total annual revenue was 392.5 million US dollars, an increase of 17% year on year. What is the performance of mobile medical business? What do you think about the market outlook for mobile healthcare in 2016, how is Medidata laid out?
Joe Dustin: Medidata is investing heavily in our mobile healthcare solutions, and we expect this business to be an important source of revenue for our business in the coming years. Life science companies around the world have a strong interest in mobile healthcare. Pioneers in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and even nutrition are working hard to explore their own digital strategies. Our customers have stated that they hope to integrate digital elements into their treatment options for each product approved by regulatory agencies by 2020. At Medidata, we believe that this will require a lot of scientific subject knowledge and innovative thinking. Early adopters of digital strategies have already experienced the stage of method development and are embarking on the development of digital terminals. This is undoubtedly an exciting time, and to some extent, the mobile medical industry is growing faster than we expected.
OFweek Medical Network: The cloud computing market has become one of the fastest growing markets in the world. As the world's leading provider of cloud solutions for life science clinical research, what are Medidata's cloud-based mobile medical solutions? What are the advantages compared to competitors in terms of intelligence, efficiency, reliability and low cost?
Joe Dustin: Our customers clearly know that managing hardware, software and custom IT infrastructure is not their core competency, and it is difficult to achieve the scale that Metadata can achieve. Of course, their primary goal is to bring innovative treatment options to the market. Globally, life science companies are re-architecting their IT strategies, including SaaS, to help them implement clinical trials and research. Once such a strategy is adopted, adding mobile medical solutions to clinical trials will be simple. Our mobile healthcare solutions are built on the Medidata Clinical Cloud platform, and our compliant cloud platform has been adopted by more than 50% of clinical trials worldwide. Our mobile medical technology is new, but it is built on a system that has been proven for the past 15 years.
OFweek Medical Network: Information security, privacy issues, management mechanisms and data standardization are several issues facing the development of mobile healthcare. What do you think of this, how does Medidata deal with these issues? If mobile medical needs to spread or even subvert traditional medical care, what problems do you think should be solved, and what role does Medidata play in this process?
Joe Dustin: Customer information confidentiality has always been a top priority for Medidata. Privacy regulations vary widely across the globe, so we choose to protect customer information in accordance with the most stringent standards. Medidata aligns its own safety standards with the latest industry requirements and continually tests our systems to maximize the safety and privacy of our customers and patients. All data, including mobile medical data, is encrypted and de-identified, meaning that it does not attach or link any personally identifiable information. To further confirm the effectiveness of our control measures, we have completed self-certification in the Safe Harbor Agreement between the European Union and the United States since 2011, and we have also developed an open privacy policy.
OFweek Medical Network: Wearable devices play an important role in data collection as an important mobile terminal. It is understood that Medidata is also cooperating with wearable device manufacturers such as Fitbit and Garmin. What is the effect of cooperation and what is the health of people? improve? Medical care is considered to be the best breakthrough for wearable devices. What do you think?
Joe Dustin: Fitbit and Garmin are world-renowned brands in the wearables industry, and we are excited to work with Medidata, especially in clinical trials. We believe that by monitoring certain events in clinical trials, such as the subject's activities and sleep conditions, it can be brought from the laboratory to the real world. A big development direction and business focus in the future is related to patient equipment, collecting data from patients, and then processing the data and then feeding back to patients. By using wearable devices, we are able to obtain larger and objective data sets related to activities to replace measurements and subjective self-assessments in more traditional clinics in the past.
