It is reported that in the upcoming UK 2016 Clerkenwell Design Week (May 24-26), the Layer Studio from London will launch a tailor-made wheelchair Go made with 3D printing technology. It is understood that this wheelchair is the result of a joint study by the staff of the Layer studio, wheelchair users and medical professionals. Benjamin Hubert, founder of Layer Studio, described it as "a tool that improves the quality of life of wheelchair users."
It is reported that the seat and pedal of the 3D printed wheelchair can be customized. The manufacturer simply inputs the user's biometric information and related data into the 3D printing software to create a seat and foot pedal that matches the personal characteristics. According to Layer Studio, the wheelchair is neither designed for athletes nor a one-time project. It will be the world's first wheelchair designed for the average consumer.
