Summer ponds should pay attention to phosphorus

Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the main nutrient elements in fish ponds. Under normal circumstances, nitrogen is not easily deficient in fish ponds from June to September. Because the summer fish feed actively, excessive protein in the feed is metabolized into nitrogen through fish metabolism and discharged from the feces into the water body. At this time, the nitrogen in the water body is sufficient or even excessive.

Similarly, the content of potassium in fish ponds in summer is not easy to lack. Because many farmers often do not clear the pond in order to save the cost of cleaning up, overly thick silt often causes eutrophication of the water body. These eutrophic sludges are often stirred up by the movement of fish or the convection of water bodies, and the potassium content appears abundant or even abundant.

Phosphorus is easily deficient in June-September. Due to the requirement of weak alkaline water for aquaculture, weak alkaline conditions are usually achieved by splashing lime into the water. After lime is splashed into the water, the available phosphorus in the water will combine with the calcium ions in the quicklime to form a calcium phosphate precipitate, which will make the original phosphorus not play a role, resulting in the lack of phosphorus in the water body. According to relevant data, the available phosphorus concentration per liter of pond water in the summer is often less than 0.01 milligrams. The lack of phosphorus will affect the growth of planktonic algae in the water, limit its photosynthesis, and then affect dissolved oxygen in water. Therefore, phosphorus should be added to the water from June to September.
