Yucheng Ophiopogon, also known as Ophiopogon japonicus and Ophiopogon japonicus, is produced in Santai County, Sichuan Province. The production areas are mainly concentrated in nine towns (townships) with Garden Town as the center in the Lancang River Basin of Santai County. Yucheng Ophiopogon is one of China's most valuable traditional Chinese herbal medicines and has been planted for more than 500 years. It has the functions of nourishing yin and moisturizing the lungs, clearing away heat and removing irritability, benefiting the stomach and producing fluid, cooling blood and stopping bleeding. In 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) approved the protection of geographical indication products in Yucheng, Ophiopogon.
According to the "Regulations on the Protection of Geographical Indication Products", the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) has organized a review of the applications for the protection of geographical indications of Ophiopogon japonica. After passing the review, it has been approved to implement the protection of geographical indication products in Yucheng, Maidong since May 24, 2006.
First, the scope of protection
The scope of protection of the geographical indication products of Maicheng in Licheng shall be subject to the scope of the proposal of the “Proposal for Defining the Geographical Protection Area of ​​Gedong-based Geographical Indication Products†(Sanfu Development [2005] No. 129) of the People's Government of Santai County, Sichuan Province. It has jurisdiction over nine towns and villages such as Yongming Town, Garden Town, Luxi Town, Laoma Township, Liuying Town, Miletown Township, Zhengsheng Township, Lingxing Town and Xinde Town in Santai County, Sichuan Province.

Seeding: Each year from April 5th to 20th, use Ophiopogon special tools to open the ditch on the plains, plant the seedlings vertically in the ditch, cover the fine soil, keep the soil surface smooth, and the seedlings are solid and stable. Each 667 square meters (acre) can be planted 60,000 to 70,000 plants, each plant is 1 to 3, plant spacing 10cm × 10cm, or spacing 12cm to 13cm, plant spacing 8cm to 9cm, planting depth 3cm to 4cm.
3. Management measures: timely fill seedlings after weeding, weeds removal, cultivating loose soil, scientific fertilization, comprehensive control of pests and diseases, keep the soil from waterlogging and cracking. Should be intercropped with corn, garlic; with rice, vegetables, potatoes, rape rotation, should not be connected.

The growth period is about 12 months, and the harvest is selected in good weather from the end of March to the middle of April in the second year after planting. Sensory characteristics: The roots are spindle-shaped, with granular hypertrophy, 1.5 cm to 3.5 cm in length, 0.3 cm to 0.7 cm in diameter, slightly pointed at both ends, and a small central column.
