Adding manganese sulfate to chicken

Winter and spring is the hatching season of chickens. During this period, it is necessary to pay attention to adding proper amount of manganese sulfate to the chicken's feed. Because manganese is an activator of many enzymes, it plays an important role in the growth and reproduction of chickens.

In winter and spring, there is a lack of green feed, chickens are mainly seeded feeds, and seeded feeds have a particularly low manganese content, so chickens are susceptible to manganese deficiency in winter and spring. In the absence of manganese in chickens, first, the bones are abnormally developed, and the leg bones are short and curved, and the diseased chickens are limp. The disease usually occurs in chicks aged 3 to 6 weeks; the chicken embryo in the eggs is deformed and the legs become thicker and shorter. The fins are also shortened and the head is deformed, resembling a round ball. The embryo develops poorly and the hatching rate decreases. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the supply of manganese from winter to spring. Laying hens, breeders, and chicks can be added at a rate of 8 grams of manganese sulfate per 100 kilograms of feed to meet demand.
