Youth is not a dream: Russian scientists use artificial intelligence to develop anti-aging drugs

According to the researchers, the technology, called GeroScope, can look for drugs that inhibit cell aging by comparing young and old cells. Alexey Moskalev, director of the aging research laboratory at the Institute of Biology, the Russian Academy of Sciences, said: "Aging population has become a global issue. Researchers are currently learning cancer-related knowledge through the Oncofinder platform for personalized anti-cancer treatments, and have designed an algorithm to compare the difference between cancer cells and healthy cells by tissue samples.

The same method was applied to the GeroScope technology: the researchers first analyzed the transcriptome data, which was read in DNA and then transcribed into RNA. There are both young people between the ages of 15 and 30 and those over the age of 60. GeroScope technology is designed to mimic molecular pathways and discover the response of cells to different substances. To this end, the researchers selected 70 of the previously researched anti-aging drug libraries for use in GeroScope research.

Secondly, the researchers used the new algorithm to screen out 10 substances that can prolong their life. Then they took the 10 substances into the laboratory and used the stem cells of human fibroblasts (connective tissue cells) to observe the regeneration and survival of the cells. . First, the researchers measure the size, size, shape, and internal structure of the cells, then fuse them with a growth medium and maintain this state for 6 days, 12 days, or 18 days. After this, the researchers will measure the previous data here, as well as the concentration of β-galactosidase, the most important substance causing human aging.
