"As an industry entrepreneur involved in the dairy industry, I have something to say." It is impossible for the average farmer who raises cows to understand the principle of melamine. But why did the "melamine-tainted milk powder" harm the entire Chinese dairy industry happen on the market?

Problems have arisen in food safety, where are the deep reasons, and how can effective supervision be formed? The inquiry by member Hu Keqin has attracted heated discussions from many members.

Yang Gang, deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, made a brief reply. “There are problems in the field of food safety. First, the awareness of the company’s product quality is not strong. Moreover, the supervision of the society and the government is sometimes not in place.” Yang Gang did not evade supervision responsibility. “The problem of product quality, the enterprise is the main body, the government has the responsibility of supervision Supervision is not in place, there are regulatory issues, there are standard issues."

Do not blindly believe that foreign milk powder food safety issues, how should be resolved? Yang Gang said: The Prime Minister has clearly stated in the government work report that it is necessary to reform and improve the food and drug safety supervision system, strengthen comprehensive coordination and cooperation, implement the main corporate responsibility, and strictly supervise the entire process from the source of production to consumption.

Yang Gang also responded to the problem of milk powder. The public’s mistrust of dairy products in the Mainland was mainly affected by the “melamine incident”. “The state has spent a lot of effort on product quality issues and has now greatly improved. Some people blindly believe in foreign milk powder, and foreign milk powder is not without problems.” Yang Gang revealed: From 2011 to 2012, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine organized domestic monitoring. There were 128,240 samples of dairy products, 330 problem samples were found, and the detection rate of the problem was 0.26%. Among them, 12082 infant formula samples were found, 93 problem samples were found, and the problem detection rate was 0.77%.

In 2012, China's port inspection and quarantine departments found 318 batches of 566 tons of unsatisfactory imported dairy products, with a detection rate of 0.76%. Among them, 43 batches of 80.95 tons of infant formula milk powder were found, and the detection rate of the problem was 1.13%. This shows that foreign milk powder is not without problems.

Formulating national mandatory standards Yang Gang said that the state has always attached great importance to food safety, especially food safety standards are very important and must be well formulated.

“There are a lot of problems with food safety. The reasons have been checked down until we find out that because many of our foods do not have standards,” Yang Gang said.
